(NO 6157 6334) Tumulus (NR)

OS 6" map, (1959)

An artificial mound

Name Book 1860.

An almost circular, flat-topped mound situated on a ridge and commanding an extensive view all round.

It measures 6.5m by 7.0m on top and about 2m in height. There is no surrounding ditch. Probably a barrow.

Visited by OS (J L D) 15 July 1958.

A prominently placed mainly earthen mound c.19.0m diameter overall, is heavily overgrown with trees and vegetation. A few stones in rabbit burrows are insufficient to suggest that it is a cairn.

Revised at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (I S S) 25 August 1971.
