(NM 7622 1538) Chapel and Burial Ground (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

The foundations of this chapel are still quite visible, and some of the graves can still be traced here.

Name Book 1871.

Situated on a slight natural rise, the remains of this chapel can still be identified as a small rectangular yard measuring 5.7m x 3.1m internally, within walls 0.8m thick. The extent of the graveyard cannot be ascertained and no gravestones are visible. No further information on the site could be found.

RCAHMS 1975; Visited by OS (RD) 30 August 1971.

NM 7622 1539 Chapel and burial ground. The building measures 5.7m by 2.7m-3.2m and is constructed of rubble and slate bonded with clay. The sub rectangular burial enclosure is at the north and measures 10.7m by 5/5m.

NM 7620 1525 Artificial cut to sea. Channel mainly 2-3m wide, linking Ballachuan Loch to the sea. This appears to be a widening of a natural outlet to the sea as drawn on George Langlands' 1801 map.

Sites included in an archaeological and historical survey.
