(NM 5401 4191) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 1:10,000 map, (1977)

Standing Stone, Killichronan: This stone, now almost prone, is situated 670m N of Killichronan, on a level shelf on the E bank of the Allt Coire Phollachie. About 2.55m in height, it is rectangular in section and measures 0.5m in breadth by 0.3m in thickness.

RCAHMS 1980.

This standing stone stood on a level grassy meadow. It has fallen sideways to the W, the western end being already covered by turf, while a hollow, full of water when seen, marks what seems to be the socket of the stone under what is now its E end. Its dimensions are as given by the RCAHMS. Near the W end a large slice has been broken off from its under, originally W, edge, and it is on the shoulder thus formed that the stone has come to rest.

Surveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (D W R) 7 May 1952.

Scheduled as 'Killiechronan Farm, standing stone... situated on a level shelf of the W bank of the Allt Coire Phollachie Burn at about 60m OD.'

Information from Historic Scotland, scheduling document dated 10 February 2003.
