A township comprising twenty-nine roofed and three unroofed buildings within a head dyke is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Sutherland 1878, sheet lxix). Seventeen roofed and ten unroofed buildings are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10,000 map (1971).

Sites recorded during a survey of the intertidal zone and the coast edge (50m from the mean high tide mark) between the Rivers Ullapool and Culag.

A Long 1996

NC 077 208 A rapid walkover survey was carried out in February 2001 in advance of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme. Faint traces of dykes and rigs were recorded westwards from the existing field system around Badnaban. These were heavily degraded and of little archaeological significance.
