About 1839 a conoe formed out of a single block of oak was dug out of the peat-moss at Drumduan (NJ 5646 0116) on the S side of Auchlossan Loch. It was broken shortly afterwards.

New Statistical Account (NSA) 1845.

No further information.

Visited by OS (NKB) 12 December 1968.

In 1836 a logboat was found (probably during drainage operations) in 'the peat-moss at Drumduan, on the south side of Auchlossan Moss'. The area is one of afforested moorland and reclaimed peat-moss at an altitude of about 130m OD.

When found, the logboat was 'quite entire' and 'neatly formed out of a single block of oak', but it proved to be 'in an unsound state' and soon disintegrated as a result of drying and rough handling.
