(NJ 3678 3078) Chapel (NR) (Site of).

OS 6"map, Banffshire, 2nd ed., (1904)

A Catholic chapel at Shenval was possibly erected soon after the Reformation. The chapel and priest's house were burned after Culloden by the Duke of Cumberland, but were rebuilt in 1780. They fell into ruin after 1831, and in 1914 there remained grass covered foundations, and a solitary tree marking the priest's garden.

J Taylor 1914.

Now no trace of a building at the published site.

Visited by OS (R L) 30 January 1967.
