NG 611527 Caol Rona (Information from Miss Nicholson "Eilean Tigh", Clachan, Raasay) , a depopulated township, overlooking the strait of the same name which divides Raasay from Rona, comprises about 10 ruined houses, also 4 outbuildings and a yard.

From the condition of the buildings, though all roofless, Caol Rona was probably settled in comparatively recent times, possibly through the evictions of Mr Rainy of Edinburgh who bought the island in 1846 and who sent those who would no go to Australia, to Rona and the north end of Raasay (Information from Miss Nicholson, Raasay).

Visited by OS (A S P) 12 June 1961; Visible on RAF air photographs 106g/SCOT/UK 36.3042/3043.
