ND14SW 1 1140 4131.

Shieling (Ruins of): About 1/4 mile NE of the eastmost loch at Thulachan, on a slight elevation, are the ruins of a house measuring some 34ft by 14ft and crudely built of very large stones and slabs. Little but the foundations of walls some 3ft thick remain.

RCAHMS 1911, visited 1910.

ND 1140 4131. The remains of a smaller structure are attached to the building described by the RCAHMS, and this measures 5 by 3m and is 0.2m high.

An unroofed shieling-hut is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1876, sheet xxvii) and on the current edition of the OS 1:10,560 map (1963) where it is shown as L-shaped with three compartments.
