Nothing is known of this chapel, beyond that it was dedicated to the norse St Magnus (Scott et al 1915-61) who was executed in 1116.

The site is marked by a slight elevation, although nothing remains of the chapel itself; the graveyard is said to have been destroyed about 1770.

The derivation of the neighbouring name 'Banniskirk' is not known. RCAHMS 1911; 1946; H Scott et al 1915-61; Name Book 1872
