A large expanse of lazy bed cultivation with different alignments fringes the NE coast from the Butt of Lewis lighthouse (NB56NW 8) to Dun Eistean (NB56NW 1). The linear fields of the improved crofts overlie these cultivation remains, but considered together with the cultivation remains visible at Cunndal (NB56NW 29) and further SW (NB56NW 19), this expanse represents a very large area of cultivation subsequently abandoned.
