HY31NE 15 c.37 17.

An incomplete slab of clay slate, 3 ft 9 ins long by 21 ins wide by 3 1/2 ins thick, bearing the rectangular symbol with the crescent and V-shaped symbols beneath, was found many years ago above the fireplace of a cottage near Redland. It is said to have come originally from near the Broch of Redland (HY31NE 12).

RCAHMS 1946.

The cottage mentioned by the RCAHMS was not located, and there is no local knowledge of the original findspot.(Information from Mr Scott (Owner), Redland, Firth, Orkney).

Visited by OS(RL) 9 June 1966.

Now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS, Accession no.IB 24)
