HU41NW 5 4078 1662.

(HU 4077 1662) Standing Stone (OE)

OS 6" map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1903).

A rough, irregular block of freestone tapering to a pointed top 8' high. It has a width of 4'8" at base and varies greatly in thickness. It is exactly in line with, and only some 2' distant from, the boundary fence between two adjacent properties. The coincidence suggests that it may have been a boundary mark, or, at all events, that it was utilised as such.

RCAHMS 1946, visited 1930.

Standing stone as described. To be supplied by field surveyor.

Visited by OS (RL) 20 May 1968.
