(HP 5752 0073) Cairn (NR) Stone Cists found AD. 1825.

OS 6" map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900)

The ruins of a very large cairn excavated by Hunt in July 1865,(J Hunt 1866), when he found the remains of a human skeleton with some limpet shells. 'Several skulls' were reported to have been found previously. The cairn was demolished, during the war, so completely that practically no trace has been left. The stones were used to build a look-out shelter.

RCAHMS 1946, visited 1930.

The amorphous remains of a cairn as described by the RCAHMS.

Visited by OS (NKB) 5 May 1969
