(HP 4849 0615) Brough (NR) (Site of)

OS 6" map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900).

The structures on this site were described as being like little houses with a drain at the bottom, by Thomas Irvine of Midbrake, who robbed them to build the wall across the neck of the island.

T Irvine 1897

No boat being available, the site could not be inspected, but the language that Irvine uses suggests that the remains are those of a fish 'skeo' rather than a broch.

RCAHMS 1946

Not visited. Inaccessible at time because of rough sea conditions.

Visited by OS 11 May 1969
