There is a substantial area of quarrying within the SE angle of the lighthouse boundary wall, on the flat summit of Sotan. A series of quarried scoops extend over an area measuring about 40m from E to W by 15m transversely, and the scoops, now grass-grown, are up to 1.4m deep.
