Field Visit
Rectangular high-relief panel, with framed central concave oval containing head and shoulder profile of Queen Victoria facing viewer's left. The portrait frame is inscribed and surmounted by ostrich feathers (?) and surrounded either side by, in the upper half of the panel frame, inscribed ribbons and, in the lower half foliage. The panel framing is decorated with a frieze pattern. A projecting stepped lintel surmounts the panel with a smaller sill (?) along the bottom edge.

On bottom edge: 1837
On either side of portrait at vertical edges of plaque in large letters: V (left) R (right)
Around portrait in circular frame: BRITANNIARIUM REGINA FID DEF
