The remains of at least seven structures are situated on a moderate south-east facing slope on the Black Hillock in Glen Gairn. They have been abandoned for some time, as the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of Aberdeenshire (1869) shows the structures as unroofed.
