NS 4157 7392 A trench was excavated on the edge of the Dumbuck crannog timberwork. The trench revealed that the timberwork on the central platform comprises radially placed branches laid on top of circumferentially positioned foundation beams. Sampling of both sediment and organic deposits aims to analyse the surfaces onto which the structure was built. Small finds include animal bones and a small carved stone which has similarities to the fakes found on the site when it was excavated in 1898.
