Creetown: fieldwork has been completed in a sweep extending eastwards from Creetown to Gatehouse of Fleet, where it abuts a block of ground surveyed in 1990. Amongst the new discoveries there were cup-and-ring marked rocks, burnt mounds, and what may be a stretch of Roman road leading westwards from the fort at Gatehouse.

RCAHMS, (DES 1994, 103).

The results of this survey, conducted in 1994, have now been passed to the NMRS. This was an area already well known for its cup-and ring markings, and numerous examples were discovered during fieldwork. Part of a possible Roman road, running westwards from the fort at Gatehouse of Fleet, was also mapped.

RCAHMS, Monuments on Record (Annual Review 1995-6), 18.
