NT 190 769. An attempt was made to locate the position of a N ditch of the fort by means of a machine cutting. A narrow trench 30m long was cut N from the line of the N rampart some 30m W of the N gateway, but no trace

of the heel of a ditch was found. The only Roman period evidence comprised two amphora sherds.
