At no 23 High Street, a dwelling at the rear of the frontage reveals some remnants of its late seventeenth-century construction. Originally single-storeyed it was typical of many of the more modest houses lining the High Street. It was probably heightened early in its existence, and later adapted to function as maltings or a barn. Only its eastern frontage survives in anything like its original state.
