The Cornwalls of Bonhard were a distinguished local family, who had a town house on the site of 57-61 High Street. The Cornwall coat of arms and the inscription 'Ve Big Ye Se Varly 1527' ('We Build You See Warily 1527'), which used to decorate the front of the property, may now be seen on the wall above the back of the pend to no 59.
