Scope and Content Fort and temporary camp at Cardean, Angus This Roman fort is at Cardean, near Meigle, Angus. The fort appears to have had one short period of occupation. Traces of the turf rampart, some 6.1 m wide, can still be seen to the N and SE. The camp lies to the E. This is an aerial view of the site. The fort can be seen as a series of cropmarks in the centre of the image. The locations of the whole NE and SE sides are known. Each has a central gateway. The fort has been excavated providing information on the location of internal roads and the position of some of the barrack blocks. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
