Scope and Content Chapel site and burial ground at Crossapol, Coll, Argyll and Bute The chapel site and burial-ground at Crossapol lie about 45m south-east of Crossapol House on the south coast of Coll. Foundations of a chapel were observed in 1773 and were still visible in the mid-19th century but these are lost. The burial-ground is enclosed by a modern wall and remained in use into the 20th century. The chapel site and burial ground can be seen at the very edge of the sandy beach (centre left). Below this is Crossapol House and the remains of a farmstead. The farmstead of Caoles can also be seen (top right). It has been suggested that the church of the medieval parish of Coll stood at Crossapol, but it is more probable that it was situated at Killunaig in north Coll and that this site was occupied by a dependent chapel.
