Scope and Content Railway Station, North Queensferry, Fife This shows a local train from Edinburgh arriving at the station in about 1990, with the north cantilever of the Forth Bridge in the background. The signs on the left are speed limits approaching and on the bridge. The angled signal is used when single-line working is in operation on the bridge. The train is a three-car 'Sprinter' diesel multiple unit set, one of the first of the second generation of such trains in Scotland. They were acquired specially for use on the Fife services fro Edinburgh, like this one. North Queensferry retains its original footbridge and Edinburgh-bound platform building. North Queensferry Station is on the Forth Bridge Railway, opened in 1890, which runs from Saughton, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, to Burntisland. It is situated at the north end of the bridge itself. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
