Scope and Content Dalgety Parish Church, Dalgety Bay, Fife, from south-south-east This view from the south-south-east, taken in 1979, shows the building, in its rural setting. The simple Perpendicular tracery is typical of most 'Heritors' Gothic' churches, but the large belfry is very unusual. Internally there is a U-plan gallery. The graveyard was laid out when the church was built. This church is typical of its type in having a U-plan gallery, giving a large number of seats for the volume of the building. It was in turn replaced as the parish church in 1981 by a modern building in the new community of Dalgety Bay, to the west. The 19th-century building is now preserved as a monument. This building originally served a rural parish. It was built in 1829-30 to designs by James Gillespie Graham, replacing the medieval St Bridget's Church on the shores of the Forth. The 1829-30 church is in a simple 'Heritors' Gothic' style fashionable from 1813. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
