Description Ex-Scotland, personal art Drawing of a ruined building with a small child (with a life timer) and an old man with a scythe nearby by Brian Hope-Taylor (before printing with notes) for a Christmas card. Brian Hope-Taylor (1923-2001) was an archaeologist and artist who was especially noted for his work on Anglo-Saxon and early medieval sites in Scotland and England. He also taught in the archaeology department at the University of Cambridge during the 1960s and 1970s. Always keen to promote public interest in archaeology, Hope-Taylor had a successful television career as a broadcaster.
