Scope and Content Alexandra Park Station, Glasgow This shows the buildings on the Springburn-bound platform from the east. The booking office is on the left, and the agent's house to the right. Note the arched underbuilding, an unusual feature. These buildings were still in use in 1970. Since then the station has, like most others on Glasgow's suburban system, been de-manned, and these buildings have been demolished. This station was opened in 1881 by the City of Glasgow Union Railway, as part of its line to Springburn. The station buildings were probably designed by J Carswell, engineer. The station is in a cutting, and the booking office was at street level. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
