Scope and Content Alexandra Park Station, Glasgow This shows the buildings at street level, from the south-west. The booking office is on the corner, and there is an agent's house to the rear. These structures are supported on substantial underbuilding. Stairways lead down to the platforms from the road bridge to the right of these buildings. These buildings were still in use in 1970. Since then the station has, like most others on Glasgow's suburban system, been de-manned, and these buildings have been demolished. This station was opened in 1881 by the City of Glasgow Union Railway, as part of its line to Springburn. The station buildings were probably designed by J Carswell, engineer. The station is in a cutting, and the booking office was at street level. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
