Scope and Content Dugouts from south-west, Heart of Midlothian Football Club, Tynecastle Park Stadium, Gorgie Road, Edinburgh Tynecastle Park is the home ground of Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) Football Club, founded in 1874. It took its name from a dance hall in the city's Royal Mile which was also the name of Edinburgh's former tolbooth or prison. Between 1895 and 1906, the Club had two league title wins and four Scottish Cup wins. This shows the 'dugouts', where players and officials sit, in the Main Stand with bucket seats for spectators behind. This side of the ground has altered least since it was completed at a cost of £12,000 in 1919. The former terracing round the rest of the ground was replaced by new, modern stands in the 1990s. The new Wheatfield Stand was opened in 1994 and cost £2.4 million. A year later, the new Roseburn Stand at the School End of the ground was opened, at a cost of £1.4 million. Since then the club has built a new stand at the Gorgie Road end of the pitch, making Tynecastle an all-seater stadium. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
