Scope and Content Warehouse (Customs Bond No 27), Nos 31-34 Water Street, Leith, Edinburgh The block of buildings between Maritime Street (formerly Quality Street) and Water Street was developed in the late 19th century to provide warehouses and offices for firms engaged in the wine and spirit trades. This is one of two large bonded warehouses in Water Street. This shows the warehouse from the south west. The elaborate classical treatment, with twin pediment and pilaster strips is unusual for a warehouse of the period. The building on the left is Lamb's House, a 17th century merchant's house and warehouse, restored in 1959-61 as an old people's centre. This warehouse backs on to premises in Maritime Street which belonged when it was built to a company in the wine and spirit trade, and may have been owned and operated by them. It was converted into flats in the 1990s as part of the regeneration of Leith. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
