Scope and Content Warehouses (Offices), Nos 29-39 Mitchell Street, Leith, Edinburgh Mitchell Street runs east from Constitution Street, and contained some of Leith's largest warehouses, built in connection with the port. These offices and warehouses were in 1937 occupied by Melrose Drover Ltd, distillers, rectifiers, blenders, and wine and spirit merchants, as Links Distillery. This shows the offices from the north-east. There are three and four-storey and attic blocks to the rear, with goods access through a lane between the single-storey (no 36) and three-storey (Nos 38, 39) front blocks. The main warehouse ranges are out of sight to the left. This complex, like many in Leith, accommodated a number of businesses. One of them in 1937 was the Methylating Co Ltd, makers of methylated spirits, and another the London Gin Distillery Co Ltd, distillers of gin in these premises. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
