Scope and Content Bellgrove Station, Bellgrove Street, Glasgow This station was originally known as Bellgrove Street, and was built between 1883 and 1889 for the City of Glasgow Union Railway, to designs by James Carsewell, engineer to the North British Railway. This shows the Bellgrove Street entrance and booking office from the north west. The entrance is in the middle, marked by the blue and yellow logo of the north-side electrification opened in 1960. The shops on either side were probably part of the original scheme. When the station was opened in 1883 the access was though a small stone building in Sword Street. In 1889 this was supplanted by an entrance from Bellgrove Street, with a wooden booking office above the platform, linked to it by a stair. All the old buildings were demolished in the 1980s.
