The building in this view was constructed in 1913 to designs by Clifford & Lunan, architects. It is faced with red sandstone on the North Hanover Street frontage. This shows the entrance to the building, and its frontage to Frederick Lane, faced in red terra-cotta brick. The next building along the lane was also part of Gilmour & Dean's works, and at the far end is a calender works built in 1875-76 for James Anderson & Co. This building was latterly, until its closure in 1968, the offices of Bairds & Scottish Steels Ltd, owners of Gartsherrie Iron Works, and Waverley & Northburn steelworks, all in Coatbridge.
