Scope and Content Warehouse, No 16 Rennie's Wynd, Aberdeen This was a large granite warehouse, probably built in the mid 19th century, close to the Victoria Dock, opened in 1848. The development of Aberdeen Harbour in the mid and late 19th century resulted in the construction of a large number of such buildings. This view shows the building's street frontage. It is unusually wide on plan, and has a larger than usual number of windows. Its original purpose is not known to the author, but in 1970 it was used by the Aberdeen Glass & China Co, and it might have been designed for those trades. Aberdeen was still very much the Victorian seaport in 1970, but the advent of North Sea Oil in the early 1970s began a process which saw the demolition for a number of different reasons, of many older buildings, including this one.
