Scope and Content Crosshill Railway Station, Albert Road, Glasgow This station was opened in 1886 by the Cathcart District Railway, on its first section, terminating at Cathcart. The line had to thread its way through existing housing, so Crosshill's platform, and hence platform building, are very narrow. The booking office was therefore at street level, as the station is in cutting. This shows the platform building from the north. The awning is similar in construction to those on other stations on the railway, but only about two-thirds of the width, and is merely a shelter. Since the 1980s most of the stations on the Cathcart Circle, completed in 1894, have been unmanned, and the street-level booking office at Crosshill has been closed and demolished. The platform shelter has, however, been retained. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
