Scope and Content View of entrance front, Kilmore House, No 30 Laurieknowe, Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway This elegant three-bayed villa was built in the early 19th century of red ashlar stonework. It features an unusual verandah of cast iron, with a curving, bell-cast roof, and a porch supported on square stone columns. This shows the front façade of the villa with the delicate cast iron supports of the verandah contrasting with the darker stonework behind. The prominent columned porch has a carved stone statue of a lion above. Unusual ashlar stone chimney-stacks conceal the chimney-pots. This villa has many further ornamental details including the bipartite windows on the ground floor, shaped skews at the base of the gables, and a stone finial on the advanced bay (left), and stained glass set into the panelled front door.
