Scope and Content Drawing Room, Inglewood, Tullibody Road, Alloa, Clackmannan Inglewood, the home of the wealthy Alloa industrialist, A P Forrester Paton, was designed by the Edinburgh architect, Sydney Mitchell. The architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere, was commissioned to photograph the interior in 1900. This elegant room, with white-painted pine woodwork, has Classical style pilasters lining the walls. The elaborate plasterwork ceiling is decorated with plaster pendants, and the fireplace in the large inglenook has an overmantel displaying objects d'art. The drawing room was regarded as the ladies' territory, and was usually decorated in light colours and furnished in a French style. The lady of the house may also have had a boudoir (private sitting room) where she kept her personal treasures. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
