Scope and Content View from east of Brentham Park House, Brentham Crescent, Stirling This square plan, Victorian house was built in 1871 in the Baronial style. It is elaborately decorated with fine stonework, and presents a fanciful series of corbelled turrets, bay windows and carved dormer heads. This shows the east front with its twin semi-octagonal bays framed by small corbelled turrets with conical roofs. The windows on the first storey have arched tops, the central trio having a balcony above them, with a carved dormer head above. 19th-century Baronial architecture takes its style inspiration from the ancient castles and tower-houses of Scotland. The Victorians loved the romance of these structures with their turrets, sturdy walls, and their associations with ancestral estates. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
