Scope and Content View from south of Lochside House, No 14 Old Church Lane, Duddingston, Edinburgh Built c.1815, this two-storeyed house has a hipped roof, and a central consoled doorpiece. Single-storeyed wings are placed at either side of the main building. Additions and alterations were carried out in 1927 by John Ross MacKay. This photograph shows Lochside House set back from the road in beautiful gardens with elegant cast iron railings. The house is built of ashlar stonework with a slate roof. The flanking single-storeyed wings have flat roofs. There are many fine villas in Duddingston which would have provided their owners with more peaceful surroundings than those found within the city of Edinburgh itself.
