Scope and Content Warehouse, Nos 69-79 Dunlop Street, Glasgow This warehouse was built in 1901-2 for Alexander, Fergusson & Co, paint and lead manufacturers, and was designed by Burnet & Boston, architects. It completed the intensive development of a whole block for warehouse accommodation. This shows the warehouse from the north-west. It has a red sandstone cladding, as did the other parts of the complex, most of which was built in 1896-9 for the Great Clyde Street (Glasgow) Heritable Co. These warehouses were probably built speculatively for multiple occupation. The construction of this warehouse was part of a revival of this city centre area, first developed in the late 18th century. The city was notably prosperous at the time. Alexander, Fergusson & Co, with works in Maryhill and Kinning Park, do not seem to have used this building. It was demolished in about 2000. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
