Scope and Content Window of the Great Hall, Inglewood, Tullibody Road, Alloa, Clackmannanshire Inglewood, a country house on the edge of the Burgh of Alloa, was designed by Sydney Mitchell & Wilson for A P Forrester Paton, a member of the town's wealthy Paton family. The window of the Great Hall was photographed in 1900 by Harry Bedford Lemere. This beautiful mullioned window has stained glass by Oscar Paterson. Described as 'a window in white and lemon glass', it depicts a romantic townscape with the lettering, 'Go East Go West Home's Best', in the style of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The Glasgow artist, Oscar Paterson, often worked with the architect, Sydney Mitchell. His delight in old ballads, medieval history and folklore supplied a literary interest to his work, and he used unusual colour schemes of lemon, white, grey and black.
