Scope and Content Drawing Room, Kildonan House, Barrhill, Ayrshire Kildonan House, designed in the style of an English manor house by James Miller, was built in 1914-23 for Captain Euan Wallace, MP. Several of the rooms of the house were photographed in c.1927 by the architectural photographer, Harry Bedford Lemere. The drawing room, with a mullioned bay window overlooking the garden, is furnished in the comfortable style of an English country house. The positioning of chairs, and the arrangement of objects within the room, may have been carefully planned by Lemere. Harry Bedford Lemere (1864-1944), one of the leading architectural photographers of his day, worked under commission for private owners. He carefully arranged the interiors to be photographed, until the photographic composition was right. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
