Scope and Content Fort and temporary camps at Malling, Perth and Kinross This Roman fort and two temporary camps are at Malling. They are built on a terrace about 7 m above the W end of the Lake of Menteith. The camps lie to the S and W of the fort. This is an aerial view of the site. The double-ditched fort appears as a cropmark in the upper part of the image. The entrances can also be seen. Below the trees in the middle of the image is a ditch which joined the two camps together. The fort was discovered in 1968. Some excavation has been done, including cutting a section across the ditches. Both were the typical V-shape. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
