Scope and Content Balquhidder Station, Stirling This station was opened in 1870 by the Callander & Oban Railway, and became a junction in 1905 with opening of the Comrie, St Fillans & Lochearnhead Railway. The latter line closed in 1951. This shows the station from the north-west. The building seen here was on an island platform, the left-hand face of which served the Comrie line. An underpass linked the two platforms. The wooden construction of the building is characteristic of Callander & Oban Railway stations. This section of the Callander & Oban Railway closed in 1965, and has been lifted. This station has been demolished. The route of the former railway has now been converted into a cycle-way by Sustrans. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
