Description Newscutting with view of Cathedral. Insc: 'The Cathedral on Iona, the tiny island off the West Coast of Scotland which has cast its spell over travellers down the centuries. It was almost 1400 years ago that St Columba came from Ireland to spread Christianity, and built his monastery on Iona. "In this little isle," wroteFiona Macleod, "a lamp was lit whose flame lit pagan Europe... here learning and faith had their tranquil home when the shadow of the sword lay upon all lands".'
