Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Achnacreebeag, Lorn, Argyll This chambered cairn is at Achnacreebeag, Lorn. It started out as a simple cairn over a closed off chamber. A passage grave was then built joining onto the SE side of the earlier cairn which was extended to cover the addition. This is a view of the passage and the second chamber during excavation. The passage itself is blocked with earth and stones, deliberately sealing the tomb. Several slabs had been placed across the entrance and stones piled in front. The site has been excavated and finds included sherds from several neolithic pots, flint knives and flakes, sherds of Beaker pottery, jet beads and cremated bone. These last three were found in the rubble blocking the passage. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
