Scope and Content Greenbank Leather Works and Stanley Works, Nos 436-50 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow These linked works were begun in 1895 by William Thomlinson (leather) and John Thomlinson (printing), and later considerably extended. The offices were on the ground floor of a tenement on Dumbarton Road, with workshops to the rear. This shows the workshops to the rear, looking east. The flat-roofed blocks seen here were both added in 1908 to designs by J Sim, architect. Greenbank Leather Works is the building nearest to the camera. John Thomlinson's printing works specialised in commercial printing, especially on serially numbered items. By the end of the 20th century both works were disused. In 2001-2 they were converted into loft-style apartments, with new cladding. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
