Scope and Content Boat of Garten Station, Boat of Garten, Highland Boat of Garten Station was opened in 1863 as the junction between the Strathspey and the Inverness & Perth Junction railways. These railways became part of the Great North of Scotland and Highland railways, respectively. This shows the main station building, on the north-bound platform of the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway. At least part of the wooden section is a later addition. This building has been renovated as part of the Strathspey Railway. The route via Grantown lost much of its importance in 1897, when a more direct route from Inverness to Aviemore was opened. The Forres-Aviemore line closed in 1965. The preserved Strathspey Railway now uses the station as its principal depot, and runs summer services from here to Aviemore.
