Scope and Content Weem Hotel, Weem, Perthshire There was an inn here in the early 18th century, when General Wade stayed in it during the construction of military roads and bridges in the vicinity, including the bridge over the Tay at Aberfeldy. The inn was much enlarged in the 19th century. This view shows the inn from the south west. The 18th century section is to the right, the three-storey and attic being a 19th century addition. On the other side of the road was extensive stabling for coach horses. As railways did not penetrate north and west of Aberfeldy, this inn remained important to local communications and tourism until the development of motor transport. It remains an attractive hostelry.
